I am Designer

My name is Michael Stubbings and I junior level design engineer, and looking to put my creative brain to the test. My recent work experience had me design a Bio-Diesel blending system from the ground up, exposing me to the intricate process when designing large machines. During my capstone final year project, I worked on designing and prototyping a new fire alarm pull station. This gave me valuable experience with the design process of a product from the initial sketches to the finished prototype. I also worked as a student researcher at George Brown, which had me help design a new vertical axis wind turbine. From that position I got experience with ordering materials, manufacturing parts and installation of the turbine on the roof.

I placed first in the George Brown robotics competition where we made a small mars rover robot. In both my academic and professional life, I have been consistently praised as intelligently creative person by my professors and peers. Whether working on academic, extracurricular, or professional projects, I apply proven leadership and communication skills.

-Researched fire alarms and how they are used in a building setting, which gave me a starting point on designing a new prototype fire alarm pull station.

-Organized team meetings to discuss our progress and meetings with the client to insure we were on schedule

-Managed a team of 4 members in which i delegated work assignments to each

-Created molds from silicone by submerging our 3d printed parts in silicone and waiting for it to cure

-During the molding process i created a small vacuum chamber in order to remove the air from the silicone so it would set without air bubbles

-On the roof of George Brown i disassembled old broken turbines with hands tools while strapped into a harness
